Lisbon is a city with a lot to offer and its appeals are beyond the PCS International Conference. Lisbon is known as the white city, thanks to its unique luminosity. The light, the atmosphere and the climate offer marvelous walks all over the city. It has a beauty that extends beyond the monuments that can be experienced in the streets and is to be embraced with all the senses.
 
Situated mostly in the centre of Lisbon, the historical neighborhoods are essential destinations for visitors to the Portuguese capital. They call to be explored for their culture, their history, their architecture and their people or simply for a relaxed stroll. A structural part of the city’s identity those neighborhoods offer to visitors willing to explore them a true personal map. There are so many possibilities. Don’t let them get away!
 
Although it was at the castle that everything began, historical sites can be found throughout the city. With a thousand years of history, Lisbon is full of monuments of great importance, that reflect some of the key moments in the Portuguese history. Capital of the Empire, the peak of Lisbon’s wealth was during the Age of Discovery, which guaranteed its heritage of a rare beauty.
 
When talking of cultural expressions, it is unavoidable to talk of Fado – the beautifully unique music that must be experienced. In Lisbon, there are numerous Fado houses, mainly in the popular neighborhoods of Alfama or Bairro Alto. From the most formal, where the emotional force of this unique form of music generates a frisson of appreciation among the public, to the most informal, where everybody sings spontaneously.
 
The food in Portugal is very rich and varied and you will be impressed by the selection in quality and flavours. Lisbon is a city where eating is most definitely a pleasure. Slow meals are a part of our life where you will enjoy intense full flavored cuisine and conversation. Portuguese traditional desserts carry in them multiple secrets, many of which were locked up for centuries in the silence of the convents.
 
Lisbon is an extremely lively city. There is always something happening, 365 days a year. Cultural events, fairs, festivals, are a constant in the Portuguese capital. But it is at night that the main doors of entertainment open, with whole neighborhoods dedicated to fun, partying and good company. Young adults are the main consumers of the Lisbon night life, maintaining the tradition of entertainment all night long and into the early hours or the morning.
