PRIZE FOR THE BEST PAPER SUBMITTED
Patient Classification Systems International (PCSI) will award a prize to the author of the best paper submitted, and presented, at the PCS International Working Conference.
The 2,000 prize is sponsored by AMGEN. The prize is intended to reflect excellence in case mix research or case mix implementation research. Manuscripts can represent collaborative efforts between authors. Submitted manuscripts are to be evaluated by a subcommittee of the PCS International members and the prize is to be awarded on behalf of the PCS International organization.
In 2008, the 24th PCS International Working Conference is being held in Lisbon, Portugal. To be eligible for the prize, the author must meet the following criteria:

Submit an abstract to the PCS International conference and have the abstract accepted by the Scientific Committee;

Submit the completed manuscript no later than the 5th of September, 2008, to ceum@ensp.unl.pt;

The lead author must attend, and present, the research at the PCS International conference in Lisbon, Portugal.
Submitted manuscripts will be evaluated by 3 members of the PCS International and 2 members of the Portuguese case mix community. Evaluation of manuscripts will be based on originality, contribution to the field of case mix research/case mix implementation, level of rigor of methods and implications to the field of research. The prize will be awarded to the lead author at the 24th PCS International Working Conference.

PRIZE FOR THE BEST POSTER
Patient Classification Systems International (PCSI) will award a prize to the author(s) of the best poster presented at the PCS International Working Conference.
The 500 prize is sponsored by SCHERING-PLOUGH. At least one of the authors must attend the PCS International conference in Lisbon, Portugal.

All submitted abstracts accepted for a poster presentation are eligible for the prize.

The jury will have 5 members.

The following criteria will be used to assess the best poster: importance and suitability of the topic; methodological accuracy of the analysis, and quality of the poster.

The decisions of the Jury are taken by majority and are final.

The value of the prize is 500, and it can be split between two or more posters. .

The name of the winner will be announced during the closing session, when the prize will be awarded.

Any author of an accepted poster is entitled to withdraw it from the prize selection, if his/her decision is sent by e-mail to the Scientific Committee (ceum@ensp.unl.pt) until the beginning of the conference.

CASEMIX INNOVATION PRIZE
The CaseMix Innovation prizes will be awarded by CASEMIX, a Dutch Casemix Consultancy Company, to the author(s) of the best contributions to Casemix innovation submitted, and presented, at the PCS International Working Conference.
There will be a 1,500 prize for the best contribution and a 500 prize for the runner up. The prize is intended to stimulate the development of tools supporting the implementation of case mix systems for clinicians and managers with the health care delivery or for the research and development of case mix systems. Manuscripts can represent collaborative efforts between authors, but must reflect operational tools which need to be presented at the conference. Submitted manuscripts are to be evaluated by a subcommittee of the PCSI members and the prizes is to be awarded on behalf of the PCSI organization.

The lead author must attend, and present, the research and the innovation at the PCSI conference in Lisbon, Portugal.
Evaluation of manuscripts will be based on originality, contribution to the field of innovation of case mix tools and support systems and have implications to the field of casemix implementation. The prizes will be awarded to the lead authors at the closing session.
Submitted manuscripts will be evaluated by 6 members of the PCSI organization.
